Here's The Announcement I Promised Last Night

This blog will be on hiatus for awhile so that I can concentrate on my two, yes two, new blogs. I'll be honest; I was planning just one new blog L'CHAYIM!!! TO LIFE!!!, which celebrates life, Catholicism, and my Jewish heritage, but I also ended up making a blog dedicated to my writings. Rochelle's Writings/Wrochelle's Ritings.

Scheduling Change

Up until now, I have been posting something here every day, even if just a sentence or two. In some cases, I was blogging for the sake of blogging, and, I must admit, even I find some of my posts boring. Sort of reminds me of this cartoon. Note: If that mouse preacher wants to learn how to give a good sermon, he should watch EWTN! That is, of course, if comic strip mice watch tv.
But I digress.
Okay. No more blogging just to blog, no more posting just to post. There may not be a new post every day from now on, but I will be blogging at least once a week.

Accidental Deletion

I accidentally deleted my "Books Read In The Past Week" list. Thank God, that's all I deleted.

"Inconvenient people" and the rising "Obligation to Die Movement"

"Inconvenient people" and the rising "Obligation to Die Movement" Now this is scary, and that's putting it mildly!

Restructuring

I am reconfiguring this blog, and placing the links to some of my most frequently used labels on their own pages. I'm placing the links, rather than the posts, to save time and space. The links to my pages are below the title of this blog.

Games, Online and Offline

I played "Gold Miner Holiday Haul" on grab.com today, mostly because I hadn't played that for some time. I purchased "Mah Jong Suite" to play offline. I love to play Mah Jong on the computer.

Cats and Computers

Winky just printed something; he stepped on just the right buttons! Then, intrigued by the sound, he started to SMELL the printer! Mom and I have been a bit unhappy because lately the printer hasn't worked very well, but now I can say thank God the paper wasn't wasted!

My New Coffeemaker

I love waking up and having my coffee ready! However, the coffee isn't perfect; I need to adjust the amount of coffee grounds and water I use. Mom also noticed a difference with her new coffeemaker. (not programmable)

DVR

Mom and I got a DVR yesterday. It was my idea, so I'm paying the monthly charge. This cuts into my book-buying money, but that doesn't matter. Thank God, there are so many inexpensive used books available. The DVR is connected to Mom's TV in the living room; both of us watch it. I've already set it to record her shows, and mine. Most of my programs are on EWTN. Is anyone surprised?

More About the "Pollyanna" Books

There are, so far, 14 or 15 books in the POLLYANNA SERIES, depending on whether or not you include "Six Star Ranch". {I'm going to buy all of the books, and just received "Pollyanna in Hollywood" in today's mail.} Pollyanna doesn't appear in "Six Star Ranch", nor is she so much as mentioned, but the publisher began to list it as part of the series after the publication of the fill-in title, "Pollyanna at Six Star Ranch". This book fills, in part, a gap of 3 or so years in "Pollyanna Grows Up", which I am reading, in part, at this time. In part? Yes, because I'm only reading the first 15 chapters now. When I finish the 15th chapter, I will read "Pollyanna at Six Star Ranch", and then resume "Pollyanna Grows Up". This may seem a bit confusing, but I want to stick, as much as possible, to the chronology of Pollyanna's story.

Coffee Maker

I mentioned in an earlier POST that I was going to get a programmable coffemaker. Well, I ordered it, and it came today. Tomorrow morning, I will wake up to the rich brown smell of coffee brewing! Now that is incentive (inSCENTive?) to get out of bed!

NOT a Happy Anniversary

On this day in 1960, the FDA approved "the pill". In his homily today on EWTN, Fr. Miguel pointed out the irony of this anniversary occurring on Mothers' Day. Irony indeed! Very tragic irony.

R.I.P Helen Wagner

I thought I posted this yesterday, but apparently I didn't! HELEN WAGNER To call Helen Wagner a soap opera veteran, and to call Nancy Hughes a matriarch, would be gross understatements. She spoke the very first line on "As The World Turns", and made the "Guinness Book of Records" for playing the same character longer than any other actor. I hope that there will be fitting memorials, both on ATWT and at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards Ceremony.
